Gerry (teacher assistant)

GerryPersonal info. Gerry Sabiran was born in Paramaribo Suriname, a country with a rich mixture of cultures and a dancing styles. In 1992 he moved to Holland, but is was only in 1998, after visiting a salsa party with a colleague, he noticed the social flavour of Salsa.

Dancing Experience and styles. Gerry started taking lessons with Leo Martina and Monique Struch (Dos Bailadores). With Monique and Leo he learned the basics of salsa. After taking two years of lessons at Dos Bailadores he then started taking lessons with Morry at Salsaventura in order to refine his LA style and learn the salsaventura 6-turn pattern system.
Gerry’s visit to Cuba sparked his interest in Cuban salsa and afro-cuban rumba after he noticed that it was difficult to dance with Cubans. But the joy and flow of Cuban salsa kept his mind occupied. Back in Holland he decided to take one Cuban Salsa lesson with Fabrizio (fabsalseros). Ever since that moment he was addicted to the Casino dancing style.

Teaching style. Gerry has adopted the Fabsalseros teaching style and brings his lessons in a relaxed, clear and technical way with the focus on having fun together, Casino style.
